I am a husband of one, father of four and avid about CrossFit. This gym is and has been a dream of mine for many years. Having been in the fitness industry for over a dozen years, I’ve seen my share of trends, philosophies, and fads, however, CrossFit is different! For me one of the greatest advantages is it’s capability to be both exclusive in developing one’s personal skills and create a demanding environment to put those skills to the test. Whatever the ambition (marathon distance running, sport-specific training, or general health), CrossFit has the capability to drive your functional ability to perform on a daily basis or in sport.
When I’m not programming our workouts or growing out my beard for Tough Mudder, I find my fitness most demanded through my home life. I love to spend my time working on a honey-do list with my wife, chasing my little ones around the house, even taking some runs with the dog. Life as I know it, is demanding and I plan on training for it.
If I can deadlift 450 pounds or squat 325, but can’t carry my daughter to bed, then what am I training for? I believe we ought to train for life not live to train.
It is my intention to redeem the image of the fitness industry by dismantling the preconceived notions the general public has about health, fitness, and nutrition. I love the methodologies of CrossFit because of the impact it had in how I view myself and my abilities. I’m passionate about sharing how we do CrossFit because of the measurable and immeasurable benefits I have seen in everyone who participates. When everything is said and done, I want people to walk away saying with confidence that “today I was better than yesterday.”
At 52 years of age, I have chosen to become serious about both my health and nutrition. I want to help you do the same and enjoy the results you will see and feel! I got into personal training and coaching because I wanted to help people achieve a higher level of fitness and a better way of living into retirement. I love CrossFit because it challenges me both mentally and physically yet it’s time efficient. CrossFit requires you to put forth effort and work hard but I always feel accomplished and satisfied after my workouts. CrossFit work outs offer the ability to truly monitor your progress so we can make sure you are always working in the right direction.
I am the perfect example of an ordinary guy caught in the game of life. I don’t know many people that have been as abusive to their body as I have. I have eaten poorly, drank heavily (at times), dealt with addictions, not exercised and generally did all the things you should avoid doing if you want to be healthy. The first 47 years of my existence I acted as though I was indestructible, but it all catches up with you! I was an athlete in high school and college but 30 years later I was an unhealthy bag of bones. After blowing out my right knee skiing, I knew it was time to make some adjustments. Fast forward 5 years. Today, I have more strength, better endurance, and a higher level of mobility and functionality than I had when I was an athlete in high school. I have tried many workout programs over the years and was actually an aerobics instructor before you actually had to know what you were doing (don’t laugh at me)! I have 2 bad shoulders, one rebuilt knee (ACL and Meniscus) and an aching back at times! That being said, exercise saved my life both mentally and physically. CrossFit has renewed my faith in a vehicle which can help everyone achieve an improvement in their overall fitness level and well being. I understand the aches and pains, but also know that sometimes we have to work through the pain to be able to do the things we want to do later in life.
My goal is to take you from wherever you are today and show you a way to change how you feel. I would like you to enjoy CrossFit as much as I do (and sometimes, in the middle of the WOD, hate it as much too!), but I also want you to know that sometimes you have to work out even when you don’t feel like it! For me, that’s when I needed it the most!!
